Breaking the Stigma of Church Marketing
In this episode, we chat with the Communications Director of Transformation Church, Alex Acevedo, about how the goal of Church Marketing is to serve the greater mission and ministry of the Body of Christ.
The word “marketing” can be a tricky word in the church world.
The idea of selling and marketing a church or ministry like a product can feel off or irreverent.
On this episode of Modern Church leader, guest Alex Acevedo is here to help reframe the way church leaders view marketing.
We all have our favorite products, foods, sports teams and albums that we share and promote to our friends and family. Why should church look any different?
Alex is a firm believer that marketing is simply an extension of evangelism.
“Check your heart. Are you marketing this sermon series or this church event because you believe in the ministry, or are you doing it to get a personal gain out of it?”
Alex believes that “marketing” is just a word, but our intention behind our marketing is where the true testament lies. Church Marketing is a way to better support the ministries happening in your church.
“Ultimately we believe that an event we host will lead to a deeper spiritual connection for someone.”
Being the Communications Director at Transformation Church, Alex has seen how important it is for his department to be a supporting role to the pastoral staff. He encourages his team to be Spirit-led and to focus on the heart and mission of the church.
At the end of the day, whether we are the senior pastor, the digital strategist or the facilities manager, we are all called to do our best work to further the gospel of Jesus Christ.
