It’s Back-to-School Time! Here are 4 Outreach Ideas

The fall is upon us, which means it’s back to school for many families. This time of the year is full of excitement, but it also presents a variety of challenges for parents and children alike. As the church, this is an excellent time of the year to meet the practical needs of your community, which will provide you with ample opportunities to present the gospel.

Here are four back-to-school outreach ideas for you to consider.

#1. Purchase school supplies & clothes

Back-to-school equals a lot of expenses for families. They need to buy school supplies, clothes, backpacks, and possibly arrange for childcare. However, many of these families don’t have the disposable income to spare.

The needs of families will vary from church to church, but make plans on meeting these needs to the best of your ability.

#2. Back-to-school event

Putting together a back-to-school event will help you to gather families together and connect with them in a lighthearted environment. Depending on your community, you may have many new families who have moved to the area. So, back-to-school events can also help these new families meet people in the community.

#3. Serve teachers

Serving as a teacher is a wonderful calling that requires a significant sacrifice. Their days are long, and the challenges to graciously tend to the children they teach can be taxing.

From providing teachers with gift cards or coffee to organizing a teacher-appreciation event during or after school hours, can go a long way in expressing your appreciation of their work for the families in your community.

#4. Adopt a school

What schools are in your community? Commit to regularly praying for these schools, open up your facilities for them to use, and organize teacher appreciation events.
